Bill Oakes entered the financial services industry in 2002 after beginning his career with Merrill Lynch Retirement Plan Services and ICG Commerce. Early on, he focused his practice on long-term care planning, driven by personal experience and a growing awareness of its importance for individuals and families. In 2007, Bill earned his CFP® certification, demonstrating his commitment to professional excellence and deepening his expertise in financial planning. Today, he provides comprehensive insurance and investment solutions to both individuals and businesses. Bill serves clients across the country including New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, with a particular focus on physicians, attorneys, business owners, young professionals, and those approaching or in retirement. While much of his business is referral-based, he also has conducted seminars and public speaking engagements to educate and connect with new audiences.

Throughout his tenure at Acorn Financial Services, Bill has received numerous awards and recognitions, underscoring his leadership within the firm and the broader financial services industry. He is a consistent qualifier for the Acorn Leader’s Conference. As Senior Vice President of Sales and Recruiting at Acorn, Bill plays a key role in mentoring the next generation of advisors. He is actively involved in recruiting, training, and managing junior associates, sharing his knowledge and passion for the industry.

A lifelong New Jersey resident, Bill was born and raised in Summit and now lives in Westfield with his wife, Cate, and their four children: Liam, Dylan, Quinlan, and Kierstin. He is deeply engaged in the local community and has served on the Board of the Westfield Lacrosse Club. Bill attended Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange, NJ, and graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Outside of work, he is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys golf and is a member of Baltusrol Golf Club.
